History

Dacia was founded in 1966, originally as Uzină de Autoturisme Pitești (UAP), with the factory inaugurated in 1968 in Mioveni (formerly Colibași), near Pitești. In 1999, the Romanian government sold Dacia to Renault, and since then the brand has established itself as an affordable vehicle provider across Central and Eastern Europe. The Dacia Logan revolutionized its market segment and became one of the best-selling cars globally.

EV strategy

Dacia electrifies from the bottom up, with the Spring as the brand's cheapest electric car. The Sandero gets its electric version on the AmpR Small platform in 2027 or 2028; an electric Duster is confirmed but carries no date. In March 2026 Dacia put the electrified share for 2030 at around 67 percent, hybrids included.
