History
Tesla, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, focusing on premium electric vehicles. Elon Musk led the first funding round in 2004 and later became CEO. Tesla revolutionized the automotive industry through battery innovation and has developed successive bestsellers: the Roadster, Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y. In December 2021, Tesla relocated its headquarters from Palo Alto to Austin, Texas.
EV strategy
Tesla is 100% focused on battery electric vehicles and a pioneer in innovative battery technology. The company developed the 2170 battery cell with Panasonic and the next-generation 4680 cell with higher energy density. Tesla operates a network of gigafactories worldwide and maintains an open-source patent pledge to accelerate EV adoption across the industry.
