History

Suzuki Motor Corporation was founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki as Suzuki Loom Works, initially as a weaving loom manufacturer. The company pivoted to motorized vehicles in the early 1950s, quickly gaining recognition for small, economical automobiles and motorcycles. Today, Suzuki is globally recognized for recreational vehicles and energy-efficient automobiles.

EV strategy

Suzuki pursues a diversified electrification approach combining battery electric vehicles, hybrids, and bio-gas technologies. Production of the e VITARA, the brand's first mass-production electric car, began in August 2025 at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India; the first cars went to Europe, and the model reached the Indian market in February 2026. Four electric models are to stand in India by 2030, two fewer than planned in 2023.
