History

Maserati was founded in 1914 by brothers Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati in Bologna, Italy. In 1937, entrepreneur Adolfo Orsi acquired the brand and relocated headquarters to Modena, where it remains today. The prestigious Italian luxury marque changed ownership several times before becoming part of Stellantis through the 2021 merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with the PSA Group.

EV strategy

Maserati meant to leave combustion behind by 2030 and started with the Folgore versions of the Grecale and GranTurismo. It did not happen: in early 2025 Stellantis wrote off 1.5 billion euros on the brand's electric plans, cancelled the electric version of the MC20 sports car for lack of demand and pushed the electric Quattroporte back to 2028.
