Ownership
51 percent Zeekr, 49 percent Geely Auto

History

Lynk & Co was unveiled in Berlin in October 2016 as a joint brand of Geely and Volvo Cars. The cars share the CMA platform with Volvo and Polestar, and the European ones were built by Volvo in Ghent, Belgium. At the end of 2024 sister company Zeekr bought the majority and Volvo Cars sold its stake; since February 2025 Lynk & Co has been 51 percent Zeekr and 49 percent Geely Auto.

EV strategy

In Europe, Lynk & Co launched without dealerships: a monthly subscription instead of a purchase, clubs instead of showrooms, and the option to lend your own car to other members through the app. The model did not carry the brand. In November 2025 Lynk & Co announced it would phase out the subscription and move to a conventional retail network.

Good to know

  • The brand was unveiled in Berlin in 2016, not in China.
  • Member to member lending produced more than 30,000 bookings from 2021 onwards, paying roughly 1.7 million euros back to the car owners.
  • The European cars were built by Volvo in Ghent, on the same site as the XC40.
