History

Genesis was founded in 2015 as Korea's first luxury brand and is part of Hyundai Motor Group. The flagship G90's 2017 debut marked its rise as a global luxury provider. Today, Genesis competes with established European premium brands worldwide.

EV strategy

Genesis has stepped back from an electric-only course and is slotting other powertrains in first: the GV70 with a range extender leads the way, announced for late 2026, with the hybrid following in early 2027. The brand announced its own premium platform, meant to set Genesis apart from Hyundai and Kia in driving dynamics, in February 2026 for 2027.
