History

Changan Automobile has a history spanning over 160 years dating to 1862, but was established as an independent automobile manufacturer in 1984 when the first Changan-branded vehicles, the SC112 minivan and the SC110 mini truck, rolled off the production line. The company evolved from a former military enterprise into one of China's oldest and largest automakers, now marketing multiple brands including Changan, AVATR, and DEEPAL.

EV strategy

Changan bundles its electrification under Project Shangri-La and invests heavily in battery technology and its own vehicle platforms. At Auto Guangzhou in November 2025 the group put numbers to it: more than 50 new NEV models by 2030 and three million electrified vehicles out of five million sold by then, all on the new Tianshu architecture.
